"In 1990, a large section of the wall -- five 12-foot tall slabs weighing about 5,000 pounds each -- was conveyed to the city and installed in a courtyard on East 53rd Street, between Fifth and Madison Avenues. The graffiti-covered, 20-foot section of wall was bought from the former East German government by Jerry Speyer of Tishman Speyer Properties, owners of the courtyard, which adjoins 520 Madison Avenue."
